Georgia Private School Tax Credit
Since our school is accredited by SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) we are permitted to offer an amazing scholarship program for students. Through the Georgia Private School Tax Credit option scholarships are awarded towards private school tuition. School aged children four years through elementary are eligible to receive this scholarship. According to the Georgia law, students must be Georgia residents enrolled in a Georgia secondary or primary public school, though attendance is not required. Therefore, existing and new students at MAV can enroll in public schools for the county in which they live and qualify to receive scholarship monies. Partial scholarships are awarded and based upon need and our ability to fundraise under the tax Georgia Private School Tax Credit. Students must be attending or be accepted to attend MAV to receive scholarship monies. Donations are 100% tax deductible.
Under the Georgia Private School Tax Credit, all tax payers are eligible to receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit in exchange for their contribution to a state-approved Student Scholarship Organization, or SSO. This allows for every taxpayer to divert some or all of their state income tax payment for each year to scholarships at little to no cost to you. In addition to a state tax credit, your contribution can be utilized as a charitable contribution deduction of your federal return.
Montessori at Vickery partners with Pay it Forward Scholarships to administer the program on our behalf. Pay it Forward Scholarships is a Georgia 501(c)(3) Student Scholarship Organization. Maximum contributions are $2,500 for married filing jointly and $1,000 for individuals. C-Corporations can contribute up to 75% of their corporate tax liability and receive that amount as a dollar-for-dollar credit on Georgia taxes.
