Catechesis (Level 1)

Who: Primary, Ages 4 – 6 (class size limited to 6)

Free tuition with only a $30 supply fee (per student) and payable to Marianna Markus.  Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a basic approach to aid in the Christian formation of children.  It is rooted from biblical, liturgical, and educational principals of Maria Montessori.  In a non-denominational setting, the goal of this class is for the individual child to form a genuine and faithful relationship with God and with Jesus Christ, The Good Shepherd.  This is taught during the academic school day.  Registration forms are located in the school foyer and can be turned in at the front desk.

Chess

The Georgia Chess Club offers a flexible program that is open to all primary and elementary students.  This enrichment class focuses on visualization techniques, chess principles, how to apply these principles, chess notation, clock management, and tournament etiquette.  The goal is to help students become better chess players and to teach those beginners who want to learn and enjoy the game.  Payments of check or cash can be turned in at the front desk.   For more information, please email [email protected]  or to pay by credit card, contact us at 770-844-9204.

Creative Art

When: Wednesdays 2:45 – 3:45 PM
Who: Ages 4+

Kids will be encouraged to develop their creativity through carefully-designed art lessons and by using various medium to encourage creativity, self-confidence and self-expression.  Projects may include:  drawing, painting, sculpture, printing, and collage.  We will use a variety of materials, including watercolors, tempera, pastels, acrylic paint, and clay.  All materials are provided.  Registration forms are available in the school foyer and payments can be turned in at the front desk.  For more information, you can call 678-428-8839 or email: [email protected].

Early Simple Machines

When: Thursdays 2:20 – 3:20 PM
Who: Ages 3-6

Youth Technology Learning Center (YTLC) utilizes LEGO robotics education building kits to teach student’s engineering principles as applied to building real world models and programming.  Colorful and fun building sections introduce children to simple machines and mechanics.  This introductory class is open to all interested primary students.  Camps are also offered.  You can register on line at www.youthtechnologyLC.com or by calling 678-517-3500.

Funky Monkey Gymnastics

When: Mondays 2:30 – 3:15 PM and Tuesdays 2:30 – 3:15 PM or 3:20 – 4:05 PM

Funky Monkey Yoga

When: Wednesdays 2:30 – 3:15 PM
Who: Ages 3 and up (Kids grouped according to age)

This fun and engaging class will teach age-appropriate yoga poses, including breathing practices, mindfulness and self-calming techniques.  Also, fun games and songs will be used and all exercises are geared toward the specific age group and interest of your child.  Ms. Amy is a certified teacher in Kid’s Yoga from toddler through elementary age.   Please register on-line at [email protected] or call 404-862-8895 for additional information. Heart Power Tools

When: Mondays 2:30 – 3:15 PM (Primary), 3:15 – 4:00 PM (Elementary)

This is a science-based course that teaches students helpful techniques that foster emotional intelligence.  Students who practice these exercises and techniques show improvements in the following areas:  focus and attention, emotional resilience, impulse control, anger management, motivation to succeed, comprehension, problem solving and increased test scores.  This class is taught by a Heartmath certified coach, Jhoselina Echevarria, and registration forms and payments can be turned in at the front desk.   Jhoselina’s contact information is:  [email protected] or 347-282-4352.

Junior Cake Crafters

When: Mondays 3:00 – 4:00 PM
Who: Ages 4+
Instructor: Lubna Shamsi

Junior STEM Class

Martial Arts

When: Fridays 2:30 – 3:00 PM (Ages 2-4) and 3:05 – 3:50 PM (Ages 5+)

Mini Masters

Exploring famous artists is fun for young kids.  It’s a great way to teach and expose even the youngest child to history, art styles, processes and art techniques.  Teaching about famous artists, art movements, and their influence on art history can be inspiring and motivational for young kids.  We will paint like Van Gogh and Georgia O’Keeffe, make a collage by cutting and pasting like Henri Matisse, sculpt like Henri Moore, action figure like Keith Haring, and much more! Playball Sports and More

Spanish (Level 1)

Lessons involve sensorial activities, Spanish songs and games.  Students will take their journey with a native Spanish-speaking instructor who will introduce them to the basic Spanish language skills:  speaking, listening, comprehension, and reading.  Registration forms are located in the school foyer and can be turned in at the front desk.

Tap-Ballet

Creative Movement and Dance offers a combination class of tap and ballet. Since ballet is the basis for all dance technique, the combination of both works hand in hand. The technical training is taught through ballet, which in turn helps reach proper shifting of weight and patterns in movement for tap. Tennis

Toddler Gymnastics

Violin

Instructor: Allison Jones

Allison Jones has been teaching strings for 31 years.  She taught Orchestra for 27 years in the Fulton County schools before teaching private lessons.  Allison uses a blend of traditional and Suzuki violin teaching methods.  She is a certified Georgia Music P-12 teacher.  Students will learn to count rhythm, sight sing, and identify note names, while learning violin techniques.  Allison has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Georgia, where she studied under Won-Mo Kim and Thomas Weaver.  Parents are advised to wait for guidance in the rental or purchase of violins, as they come in all qualities and sizes.  For more information, e-mail her at:  [email protected] or call 770-833-0793.

Yummy Cooking

Cooking is not only a fun, engaging activity for children, but one that has been used for years as an important teaching and development tool for all ages.  Hands-on cooking activities help children develop confidence in building small muscle control, eye-hand coordination, inspires curiosity, thinking and problem solving.
